I love this woman. I mean like really love her. So much in fact that if she were to show up at my door right now and offer to adopt me and take me home for the day, I'd drop everything I was doing and go. I imagine that my day with her would go something like this:
I'd wake up to the most delicious smell of her Baked French Toast Casserole {breakfast is my most favorite meal of the day...besides dessert of course} baking in the oven. I'd wander out to the kitchen intoxicated by the smell of cinnamon and warm maple syrup and be greeted with a very friendly, "Good mornin' gurl!" We'd sit out on the sunny porch eating breakfast, sipping coffee, and chatting like we've been mother/adoptive daughter for years. Then we'd move back into the kitchen where Momma Deen would school me on how to make some fantastic southern comfort food. I'd listen to all her wonderful stories, soak up all her tips and tricks, and giggle every time she said, "y'all" or "olive 'ol." Dinner would be fantastic, of course, and next would come dessert...ohh dessert. Deciding what to make would be the hardest part, but we'd finally agree on a Volcano Cake since we all know that chocolate {and butter} are a girls best friend. Full, fat, and happy we'd hug goodnight and have a peaceful nights rest. Until...
*POOF* I wake up to find it was only a dream. Bummer.
Cooking at my house is far from perfect. I'll be the first to admit that I totally lack skills in this department. When trying to come up with a list of dinners to make for the week, I usually find myself getting frustrated. I don't particularly enjoy cooking, and since my palate is the only adventurous one in the house we usually eat the same 'ol boring things every week. My same 'ol "go to" recipes. When I do get brave and try something new I often wonder, "Does this just taste good to me or would other people find it edible as well?" Hmmm. Yes, my cooking confidence is certainly lacking. Then I came across these little puppies...
These little packets of love have gotten me out of my dinner rut and have boosted my culinary skills one tiny notch. They come with all the spicy goodness to liven up your meal, all you have to do is add a few other ingredients that are conveniently located on a recipe card on the back. I know, wonderful right! You can literally show up at the grocery store with no idea about what to make for dinner, pick up one of these bad boys, buy all the ingredients, and your set! And the less thinking about dinner I have to do, the better. Tonight I am trying out the Chicken Marsala for the first time.
Besides this packet, these are all the ingredients you'll need...
Pretty impressive and not scary at all! I'm going to serve some brown rice and green beans with it. Here is the final product...
So far the others I have tried were the Garlic Lime Chicken Fajitas and the Rosemary Roasted Chicken with Potatoes. Both delicious, but the fajitas and now the chicken marsala are my favs. So I hope you give these a try and I hope they make your dinner time struggles a little easier. Let me know what you think! Happy cooking :)
