To My Fabulous Readers...

{I realized after reading this post that it is kinda all over the place. All these feelings were just kind of flowing this morning so I just went with the flow and wrote them down as they came! Please bear with me if you choose to read on.}

Hello all my sweet and lovely readers!
I just wanted to take a minute to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who watched my Vlog and left me super kind comments. Like I had mentioned, I took a HUGE step out of my comfort zone with that post and I was really, really nervous about posting it.

You see, when I was a little girl I was VERY shy...like hide behind my momma's leg, wouldn't take to anyone...SHY.

It wasn't until I started dancing again when I was about 12 that I started to overcome my shyness. Strangely enough, the stage was the one place where I felt completely unafraid to be in front of people. It was a place where I came alive and let my personality shine in front of people other than my closest family. Sure I got nervous, but as soon as the music would start, it was like I became another person...someone who wasn't afraid of what other people thought, someone who stopped letting her insecurities hold her back. Dance helped me to open up SO much and as I grew up I eventually became less and less shy.

But sometimes that shy little girl in me still comes back {I know my real friends and family may find this hard to believe!}. Sometimes in situations such as meeting new people, I really have to force myself to step up and take initiative, to not have those feelings of shyness, inadequacy and my own insecurities overpower me into silence. I am a total goof around those who I'm close to, but I really have to work hard to feel comfortable in new situations and around new people. I struggle to open up and express myself even in front of the people I'm closest too. Even the one person, my husband, who I should be able to open up about anything too, I sometimes find it hard to do so. In fact, some of my early posts about my mom and dad really came as a surprise to him because I had never really opened up to him about many of the feelings that I had wrote about. He never knew until reading those posts just how hard it has been for me to cope with the loss of them all these years. I tend to bottle things up and keep them inside. I think this stems from when I found out my mom was sick. I knew I could talk to her about anything, and I really wanted too but I felt like my feeling and problems were insignificant, after all her problems were much worse than mine...she was dying, and I didn't want to burden her even more with my silly teenage problems. I know now how stupid it was to feel that way, and it was never my mom who made me feel that way, it was just me. And now to this day, I still struggle with those same feelings.

This blog has been a real challenge for me at times. Sure, I'm not having to meet anyone face to face or try to hold a conversation, but I am putting my heart and soul out there and wondering if what I say, MY feelings, are going to be accepted, rejected or understood. Many times I write something and then hesitate for days whether or not to push the "publish" button. And there are still many posts I want to write but just haven't worked up the courage to do so yet. So, there was much more behind posting that Vlog than just wanting to share my ten favorite beauty products. It was actually a way to challenge myself. To put myself out there without worrying just how dorky I sound or just how many times I said "um" in a matter of 9 minutes {which was a lot!} or if anyone would like me. Because the truth of the matter is, I'm not this eloquent speaker who uses fancy words and can look you straight in the eye when I talk to you. Sometimes I don't know what to say, I look at the ground when I talk, and I use words in the wrong context or make up words all together. But that is just what make me, ME. And I am learning as I grow older and more confident in myself, that that's OK.

My 5 year old Carter took this pic! I may have a future photographer on my hands :)

I think as a blogger it can become easy to hide behind your words or pictures when that's the only way people are able to get to know you. Or it can become easy for people to begin to portray you as something you may not actually be. When you write you are able to edit out whatever you don't like, you could easily make yourself become whatever you want and people may begin to picture you in that way. But I wanted you to see the real me. The real person behind this blog including my little quirks and imperfections and that I am a real person just like the rest of you :) I want my readers to know me not just by my words, but for the real person I am behind all the words. To be able to put a face, voice, and personality to what they read here.

I worry a lot that sometimes people will think that I am not genuine and that I am trying to be something or someone that I am not. I worry that people think that I am only concerned about gaining followers and making my blog become popular. But that is not the case at all. Sure, it is super flattering to have that followers number grow everyday, but I am looking for readers not just followers. I want people to love reading my blog just as much as I love writing it. I want people to be able to relate to me and I want to meet people that I can relate to and learn from. And so far that is exactly what I have found.

I guess I just really wanted you all to know how much I appreciate your support, whether you are my real life friend or a new bloggy buddy, your comments TRULY mean the world to me. I know that sometimes I am not able to get back to you or it may take me awhile to respond, but I really do read ALL of your comments and emails and appreciate the time you take to leave some sweet words for little 'ol me. You all continue to humble me with you kindness.

So from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU all for being so awesome!

xoxo,
Lacee

P.S.- I was absolutely tickled when some of you said how you liked my "accent!" Haha! I never thought of myself as having an accent but I guess to some of you, I do! I just loved that and thought it was so cute :) So thanks!

My First Vlog! 10 beauty products I Heart

Hi everyone! Ok, so today I am really stepping out of my comfort zone...BIG time. Today I am posting my very first Vlog!

I've wanted to do one for a really long time now but I always seem to chicken out. First off, I hate the sound of my own voice, and second I think that I am a total dork on camera {actually I'm a dork all the time but the camera just seems to accentuate my dorkiness}. But pushing all that aside, I decided to give it a go anyways.

I really had no idea {as usual} on the technical side what I was doing. I have a Mac so I used photo booth to record this but I think next time I'll try using iMovie. The lighting is kinda bad and things aren't always synced up but, oh well! If you have any suggestions on how to get a better video I would love to hear! I seriously decided to do this at the last minute. I had no clue what I was going to say...I just sat down and started rambling. This was also my first take and there was no editing...this is 100% ME...oh dear.

Anyways, here goes nothin' {eeeek I'm SO nervous!} hope you like it...

So there I am! And holy Moses do I sure say "um" A LOT! haha! Like I said, I apologize for the video quality and how everything was backwards...I'm sure there is a way to fix that so I'll try to figure that out for the next time. Here is a list of all the products mentioned since they were kinda hard to see in the video...

1) Laura Mercier Concealer

2) Bare Minerals Powder Foundation

3) Hoola by Benefit

4) Urban Decay Eye Shadow Potion

5) Urban Decay Naked Palate

6) Maybelline Great Lash Mascara {waterproof}

7) Alba Un-Petroleum Jelly

8) Nars Blush in Orgasm

9) Revlon Eyelash Curler

10) Carmex Cherry Chapstick

If you have any questions about any of the products just leave me a comment and I'll get back to you!

I'm linking this up to Miss Mommy's Tuesday 10

 Thanks for watching!
