My First Vlog! 10 beauty products I Heart

Hi everyone! Ok, so today I am really stepping out of my comfort zone...BIG time. Today I am posting my very first Vlog!

I've wanted to do one for a really long time now but I always seem to chicken out. First off, I hate the sound of my own voice, and second I think that I am a total dork on camera {actually I'm a dork all the time but the camera just seems to accentuate my dorkiness}. But pushing all that aside, I decided to give it a go anyways.

I really had no idea {as usual} on the technical side what I was doing. I have a Mac so I used photo booth to record this but I think next time I'll try using iMovie. The lighting is kinda bad and things aren't always synced up but, oh well! If you have any suggestions on how to get a better video I would love to hear! I seriously decided to do this at the last minute. I had no clue what I was going to say...I just sat down and started rambling. This was also my first take and there was no editing...this is 100% ME...oh dear.

Anyways, here goes nothin' {eeeek I'm SO nervous!} hope you like it...

So there I am! And holy Moses do I sure say "um" A LOT! haha! Like I said, I apologize for the video quality and how everything was backwards...I'm sure there is a way to fix that so I'll try to figure that out for the next time. Here is a list of all the products mentioned since they were kinda hard to see in the video...

1) Laura Mercier Concealer

2) Bare Minerals Powder Foundation

3) Hoola by Benefit

4) Urban Decay Eye Shadow Potion

5) Urban Decay Naked Palate

6) Maybelline Great Lash Mascara {waterproof}

7) Alba Un-Petroleum Jelly

8) Nars Blush in Orgasm

9) Revlon Eyelash Curler

10) Carmex Cherry Chapstick

If you have any questions about any of the products just leave me a comment and I'll get back to you!

I'm linking this up to Miss Mommy's Tuesday 10

 Thanks for watching!

10 More Random Things About Me

Since I've had so many new friends join the Mommas Like Me family, I thought that I'd write another post with some more random facts so all of you could get to know me a little better {or be bored to death...you decide}. If you haven't yet read my post, 10 Things That Make Me, Me {or just a weirdo}, then click HERE {at your own risk} to find out some pretty strange facts about moi and hopefully you'll still want to be my friend :)

Alrighty, let's get to it!

10 More Random Things About Me

#1 I used to be a dancer/dance teacher. No, not THAT kinda dancer people! I studied in and taught ballet, jazz, tap, modern and contemporary...ballet being my favorite. I danced for a total of 10 years and taught for about 7. It was my life and I loved every minute of it.

I was about 4 here

My bestie and I...we met through dance
#2 I don't mind getting dirty. Again, this is not what you think {or maybe I'm the only one here with a dirty mind}. What I mean is I don't mind engaging in projects or activities where getting dirty is bound to happen. In fact, last year I actually sought out a reason to get REALLY dirty. Along with my sisters and niece, I signed up for the Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run. A 5k race through, yep you guessed it, MUD! It was probably some of the most fun I've ever had and I highly recommend it if you are interested in getting dirty with your friends *wink*

#3 I once had an afro. Yes, you read that correctly. Let's just say, don't ever let your sister who is majoring in cosmetology, practice her perming skills on YOU. I'll show you some pic's if you promise not to laugh.

My sisters wedding

1st day of kindergarten

Hey you promised!! Ok, I admit it is pretty funny, in a sad and embarrassing kinda way. Did my mother think that dressing me in a cow/ice cream cone print dress would help to distract from the massive puff of hair on top of my head? I'd call this an EPIC hair and outfit FAIL. Thanks mom and sis.

#4 I learned how to surf in most favorite vacation spot last year...Maui! If I could I would move there in a heartbeat and surf every. single. day. To say I loved it would be an understatement. Eve though I've only done it once, I still consider myself an official "surfer chick."

#5 I've taken a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon. I was not a fan of the helicopter ride itself {I easily get motion sickness and puked while sitting up front by the pilot...talk about embarrassing!!} but the Canyon was AMAZING! One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. If you ever get a chance to visit, you must do it.

#6 I am a hugger. Chances are if we meet, I'll give you a big 'ol hug. I once even hugged a man in San Francisco holding a sign that said "Free Hugs." Kinda creepy when I think back on it. I definitely get this trait from my momma. She was a hugger too. I remember one time she hugged the bagger boy who helped us out to our car with our groceries! He didn't smash the bread and that called for a hug!

#7 I have a bit of an obsession with underwear. Let me explain. Whenever we go on a trip somewhere, I always pack WAY more pairs of undies than I actually need. For instance, if I'll be gone for 3 days I'll usually pack about 8 pairs of underwear. This drives my hubby nuts. But what he doesn't understand is 1) certain undies work better with certain outfits and 2) I have a fear of getting stuck somewhere, running out, and not having a clean pair. I think what scarred me for life was on our trip to Jamaica our luggage was lost and I had to buy some underwear from a store IN THE AIRPORT. All they had were granny panties that literally came up under my boobs. I had to roll them down about 4 times to get them to rest on my hips! Talk about sexy...NOT.

#8 I have a tender heart. That sounds much better than calling my self a cry baby. I've always been a pretty sensitive soul, but after becoming a momma this characteristic was then magnified by like a million. Stories on the news about children that have been hurt or killed, the commercial with Sarah McLaughlin and the pets in the shelter, Survivor when they get letters from home, The Notebook, seeing people I love suffer and hurt, and this Pampers commercial gets me every. single. time. I dare you to watch this and not get a little misty...

I think all this weepiness is just part of the package of becoming a momma. It's weird and strangely wonderful all at the same time.

#9 When having a good time, I often take pictures with complete strangers. I can't even explain this one. I know no one in the following pictures...

From these pics you also learn...I am a San Francisco Giants fan and that "face" seems to be a common theme in all of my crazy stranger pics.

#10 I'm a word nerd. I love games like Scrabble, word searches, Scattergories, Hanging With Friends and Words With Friends on iPhone, and I LOVED watching Wheel of Fortune with my mom when I was a youngin'. My current favorite words are: Snarky, Janky and Shenanigans. Most of my uber cool words come from the Urban Dictionary...cause I'm fantastical like that ;)

So there ya have it folks! I'm kinda a strange duck but pretty lovable {I think}. So I'm dying to know...

What is one random, strange or funny fact about YOU?

Leave me a comment and let me know so we can be weirdos together :)

10 Favorite Things Around My New Home...So Far

So as most of you lovelies know, I recently moved into a new house. If you hadn't heard, then you can read about my moving shenanigans {I just love that word!} HERE

And while my new home is FAR from being completely done, there are still some things that I really love about it. So I thought I would give you a few sneak peeks {10 to be exact} of the things I love so far.

#1 A handy dandy shoe organizer turned cupboard organizer. I got this idea from Pinterest before we even moved and knew I would have to do it in the new house.

{It really doesn't take much to impress me!}

It's an awesome way to organize Booger Bears snacks and all those little things that end up getting lost in you pantry. I got these at the dollar store and just hung them with little 3M sticky hooks. It's an easy and inexpensive {$5} way to keep things neat and organized!

#2 Shabby cookbook holder. I found this little beauty at one of my favorite places...TJ Maxx for $30!

I had no idea what I was going to use it for when I bought it and then when we moved it hit me. It would look darling in my kitchen as a cookbook/cooking magazine holder! I'm pretty smitten with it :)

#3 Pull out pots and pans drawer. Like I said it doesn't take much to impress me. Right below where the cookbook holder lives, is this awesome drawer for storing pots, pans and lids. The best part? The drawers pull out so you can easily access what you need!

I just {heart} organization!

#4 Keurig coffee maker. Is it wrong to be head over heels in love with a machine?

{My monster-sized coffee cup...pun intended}

Some SUPER awesome friends of ours bought us this for our anniversary and we absolutely LOVE it! It actually makes me excited to get up in the morning! But I doubt that will last long ;)

#5 Antique window. If you follow me on fb then you probably know about this old window that I picked up from a local antique store.

I just adore its 4 coats of peeling paint and old shabby goodness. I'm eventually going to hang it above this wine rack and I was even thinking of putting some 5x7 pics behind each glass "frame"...what do you think?

#6 Floor vents. Yes, you read that right. Let me explain...

I never knew the hours of kid-friendly entertainment that could come from a floor vent. Simply turn on the A/C grab a fitted sheet and you have your very own homemade tent!

Carter will literally play under this for hours which means more quiet time for momma!

#7 Bookcase turned shoe holder. This was another idea I found on Pinterest and is definitely one of my favorite things I've done in the house so far.

Such a fun idea right?!? It's not done yet, I want to paint it a fun color but I have no idea what that color will be yet...any suggestions?

#8 Future craft room. Ok this is not anywhere where near complete, in fact I haven't even started on it yet, but I love to go in this room and imagine just how grand it will someday be. Right now it is just kinda a catch all for all the stuff I don't know where to put yet. It's not pretty but I'll give you a little tour anyways.

The butcher block was given to me by a very sweet friend. I think I'm going to paint the bottom half and use it as my craft station.

I've used these stacking baskets in the closet to store all my blankets that I've made.

And this hanging stacker holds all my extra fabrics.

I want a dress from to go in that corner where all the junk is.

These two shelf are going to get a facelift with some paint. I'm looking for a perfect little desk/table to fit in between them so I can put a sewing machine on it. Sounds like another trip to the antique store to me!

#9 My fur baby finally got to come home! I'd like you all to meet Sassy...

A.K.A Chewbacca

Striking resemblance right? When we moved into the apartment we couldn't have her there with us so my super sweet in-laws offered to give her a home. Now that we've moved, we are so happy to have her back. I love this kitten!

#10 Last but most importantly, our house just wouldn't be a home without my two loves...

You should too!

10 Things That Make Me...ME {or just a weirdo}

Before I get started with today's post I just wanted to mention that today is my

1 Month Blogversary!

To tell you the truth, I wanted to start a blog for a long time but I was scared.

I was scared that I wouldn't be able to figure it all out being that I'm not very computer savvy.
Scared that nobody would read or care about what I had to say.
Scared that what I wrote wouldn't reach the hearts of my readers and mostly....
Scared about what people would think.

Then one day I decided enough was enough. I was not going to let fear paralyze me from going after my dreams. If I failed...so what. At least I had the courage to try.

And that my friends was how Mommas Like Me was born.

So, I just wanted to take a sec to thank each and every one of you for your support. Your comments, emails, and kind words have meant the world to me and motivate me to keep on blogging.

So from the bottom of my heart...

THANK YOU

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, so now on to the good stuff.
It's 9:30 pm.
Booger Bear and Hubbs are both asleep.
I'm sitting here at my computer in my super unattractive jammies, eating peanut butter cookies, going back and forth between blogging and Pinterest {my latest obsession} and getting ready to share with you some things about me that you probably don't want to know.
All of us are unique, weird and quirky in one way or another, some more than others, but really our little idiosyncrasies are what make us special, lovable, fun and real...at least that's what I hope you'll still think after reading these.
So here goes nothing...
10 Things That Make Me...ME
{or just a weirdo}
1. I like chips in my sandwich. I thought I'd start with something not too crazy so as not to scare you off right away. I know a few other people who do this so at least I am not alone. My preferred chip/sandwich combo: Salami with nacho cheese Doritos. Why does seeing that in writing sorta gross me out? Strange. Oh well, try it sometime...it's tasty!
2. No touching during sleep. I love a good cuddle before bed and I love a good cuddle in the morning when I wake up, but once its time for sleep...
don't touch me.
Period.
Not even a toe.
I've always wished I could do the ever so romantic "fall asleep in each others arms" thing but I can't. And it's gotten worse over the years. Now I can't even sleep if the hubbs and I are face to face. I have to roll over. Maybe it's because he occasionally snores or maybe it's because I take my sleep very seriously and do not like to be disturbed...whatever the reason, don't touch me while sleeping and all will be A-OK.
3. I will not eat square meat. What the heck is square meat you ask? Two words:
Wendy's. Hamburgers.
They totally freak me out. In my mind hamburger patties are not meant to be square. It's unnatural. Therefore, I never have and never will eat square meat.
4. I always wear a hoodie when traveling on an airplane. Why? Lice. I am afraid of catching lice from the airplane headrest. I don't mean to make you paranoid, but think about it. How many heads have touched that headrest before yours did??? And you can't always be sure that someone with bad hair hygiene, unlike yourself, didn't just rest their greasy little head on it before you unknowingly lean your head back for a little snooze. That's why I wear a hood of protection over my head, otherwise you just might see me in the airport bathroom rinsing my hair with a bottle of Purell.
5. The words "moist," "nougat" and "supple" make me shiver. And not in a good way. I can't really explain why, I just really don't like the way these words sound rolling off of ones tongue. Try saying them slow and maybe you'll see what I mean...ready? Mooooiiiisssst Noooouuuugat Suuuupppple **shiver** See?
~~~If you are still reading, BLESS YOUR HEART~~~

6. I refuse to sleep with the comforter on hotel beds. It's actually the first things I do when I get to a hotel room, even a nice one, I walk straight over to the bed, remove the comforter and toss it into a corner of the room. It literally makes my tummy queasy to think of all the "mystery" germs that that seldom washed, cootie infected piece of fabric must have on it. So instead of taking a risk, I just rid of it completely. Oh, and I literally have to knock myself out with a sleeping pill to keep from thinking about what's on the mattress. {Man I'm really starting to sound like a germaphobe!}

7. I hate booger noses. From the time Carter was an infant, I couldn't stand it when he had boogers in his nose. The bulb syringe or "booger sucker" as I call it, quickly became mommas best friend and baby boy's worst enemy. To this day {and Carter is now 5}, since he still cannot figure out how to blow his nose, I will hold him down to rid him of his magic nose goblins. Disgusting.

8. I get the nervous pees. This goes all the way back to my dancing days. Right before I was about to go on stage I would feel as though I was going to pee my pants. Then as soon as I got out there and started workin' it, the feeling would disappear. Yup, nervous pees. I still get them today too, but nowadays I think it's mostly due to my post-pregnancy peanut sized bladder. Sad to say I've passed this trait onto my son. I'm sure he'll thank me later.

9. I still sleep with my blankie. I know, I know, I'm 29 years old and am really too old for something so childish...but I don't care. I love my blankie. As a matter of fact, its on my lap right now. Upon closer examination it's really a ratty ugly mess, after all I've had it since I was 12, but to me it's just been broken in...perfectly. If it can hold up, I'm sure I'll still be sleeping with it when I'm old and grey. I may even want to be buried with it *wink*

10. I snort when I laugh. Now I know I'm not the only one out there who does this but it's kinda embarrassing when it happens. A sweet innocent laugh all of a sudden turns into what sounds like a bunch of little piglets rooting for truffles. It's a trait that I no doubt inherited from my momma who had the most contagious laugh ever. She had the kinda laugh where you couldn't even remember what you were originally supposed to be laughing about because you were too busy laughing at her laugh! So I guess it's not such a bad thing, cause every time I snort it reminds me of her :)

So there you have it!
I am a self proclaimed weirdo.
Still wanna be friends?

Lacee

Tell me, what's 1 weird thing about YOU?
